Un braqueur de banques, le Vilain, revient après 20 ans d'absence se cacher chez sa mère Maniette. Elle est naïve et bigote, c'est la planque parfaite. Mais celle-ci découvre à cette occasion la vraie nature de son fils et décide de le remettre dans le " droit chemin ". S'ensuit un duel aussi burlesque qu'impitoyable entre mère et fils.
